Rómulo y Remo eran utilizados como gallos de pelea. Sherlock los tomó y los llevó a casa para poder demostrar un debate según el cual se podía entrenar a estos animales para que sean menos agresivos.
Sherlock se dedica a alimentar a los gallos cuando se mantienen tranquilos, pero los castiga con no hacerlo cuando no lo hacen.
Al final, la técnica de Sherlock funciona correctamente pues Rómulo y Remo no se pelean al ser liberados de sus jaulas.

La presencia de Rómulo y Remo en el episodio no es más que una metáfora para reflejar la relación entre Sherlock y Lestrade. Pero al final, Shelock y Lestrade lográn sobreponerse a sus diferencias, lo cual se evidencia en Rómulo y Remo, quienes ahora pueden convivir en armonía.
