Clyde pertenecía a Len Pontecorvo. Sherlock y Joan la descubrieron al ir a casa de Pontecorvo y encontrarle muerto. Sherlock se la lleva con intenciones de hacerse una sopa con la tortuga, aunque finalmente desvela que no iba en serio, y que admira a esas criaturas.

Sherlock emplea la tortuga a su antojo. Si bien la intención de hacer una sopa era falsa, en el mismo episodio emplea al animal como pisapapeles.
Joan: No debería usar a Clyde como pisapapeles.
Sherlock: No creo que le importe. No le llame por su nombre, si no, no disfrutaré de la sopa.
Posteriormente, Sherlock lo puso a moverse por un mapa.
Joan: ¿Por qué lleva Clyde cinta adhesiva en la espalda?
Sherlock: Es una cruz. Ahora es una ambulancia.
La señora Hudson le tejió varios jerséis para tortuga. Sherlock la emplea frecuentemente para despertar a Joan de una forma "apacible".
